DENTON WEST CC CHARITY CHALLENGE 2010 (ONE THOUSAND MILES WEST)

After last years epic end of season walk from Woodbank to West which raised over £3,700 for Cancer Research UK Chris Mulroy and I have decided to take this years challenge quite a few steps further!

In a nutshell we are going to walk from Denton West to every First XI away Lancashire County League fixture.

There are 13 games in total, an estimated 101 miles and a lot of hours! Once again we will be walking for Cancer Research UK and there will be a Just Giving Site linked to this one for your generous donations. We are obviously looking to raise as much money as possible for the Charity to add to the £10,000 plus that West members and friends have raised by participating in the organised events over the past 3 years.

In addition this year by running the challenge over the course of the season we are looking not only for sponsors but also for as many people as possible to join us on the walks. By joining in you can keep fit, watch some cricket and raise some money for a charity of your choice, it doesn’t have to be Cancer Research UK there are many worthy causes as we all know. Obviously not everyone can commit to walk to all 13 games but just one would be great and certainly for the more local games we will be hoping for a fair crowd. We will also be looking to theme one or two walks and certainly by the last away game at Roe Green on Sept 4th the fancy dress costumes will be on!!!!!

Our Target (1,000 miles). It would be great if we could accumulate a total of 1,000 miles between us during the season so check the fixture list for dates and see if you can spare at least one day to walk, support West and raise a few quid in the process.
