After several years of near-misses, Prestwich CC's second team were crowned league champions on Saturday, with two games still to go. In his first season as 2nd XI captain, John Fiorentini has guided his players to the division two championship, after narrowly losing out on a fifth successive cup success. A seven-wicket victory over Woodhouses, sparked the celebrations and the trophy was formally presented by league chairman Tony Crook. The 2nds last won the league title in 1970.

Following a spirited bowling and fielding performance without the ill Chris Humphries, the Prestwich batting disintegrated into farce, being bowled out for 74 and losing by nearly 100 runs. This put's the 1XI out of touch with the leaders with nothing but pride to play for in the last two games.{no-combomax} |

Win or bust! That's the simple ultimatum facing Prestwich CC's first team as they meet league leaders and cup conquerors Woodhouses on Saturday. After last week's Lees Lancashire County League programme was washed out without a ball being bowled anywhere, the Heys Road side remain six points behind the Failsworth team, with three games left. {no-combomax} |

Both the first and second teams were rained off on Saturday without a ball being bowled.
The entire League program was affected with not a single game being played in either division leaving the 1st XI praying for miracles and Fordy's 2nd XI requiring just five points from their remaining three fixtures to be crowned champions.{no-combomax} |
