 An amazing finish saw Prestwich scamper into the next round of the Lancashire Cup with a last-ball victory over Northern League highflyers Preston. The visitors, Andrew Flintoff’s home club, were dismissed for 185 but looked home and hosed when Prestwich slumped to 24 for 5.

 STAND dumped league champions Prestwich on the seat of their pants as they came out on top in a high-scoring local derby. The Whitefield side took full advantage of a woeful fielding performance from Prestwich to rattle up a mighty 262 for 7.

 A vital unbeaten 30 from John Walters steadied the third team's ship as Prestwich looked to be in grave danger of going out of the Hodson Cup chasing Littleborough's meagre 116 total. With the scores level, last man Danny Coles survived 3 deliveries before Whitworth bowled him a wide to seal Prestwich's passage through to the next round.

 A superb all-round display from Peter Walters was not enough to earn Prestwich victory in a thrilling local derby. The left-hander cracked 87 to add to his five-wicket haul but Cheetham Hill triumphed by 28 runs.

 Prestwich Second XI lost their first game in twelve months on Saturday when they were comprehensively beaten by a Glossop side who claimed their revenge after being knocked out of the Hulme Trophy in the same fixture a week earlier.
