THE young lions of Prestwich flexed their muscles to claw their side to victory and retain their place as leaders of the Lees Lancashire County League.
Chris Thomas led the victory stampede againast Glossop with his maiden first team fifty, and with 18-year-old Pete Walters hitting 47 and 22-year-old skipper Steven Lorenzini making a run-a-ball 31, they were instrumental in the Heys' total of 210.

The Second XI travelled to Derbyshire on Saturday 9th June to face Glossop in the Lancashire County League and emerged victorious thanks to a grafting 60 from John Fiorentini and 4 for 27 from Pete Lorenzini.

Prestwich sprung to the top of the Lees Lancashire County League with a maximum 10-point haul from their weekend games. An emphatic win over local rivals Stand on Saturday was followed by a comfortable victory at Irlam. The double triumph put the Heys side one point clear, but with a raft of clubs queueing up behind, there is a very wide-open look to this year's league.

Indeed, Prestwich play host to second-placed Glossop on Saturday as they start a series of games against the higher-placed teams which will have a strong bearing on the rest of the season.

The 2XI only managed 4 points from a  disappointing double weekend, losing away to local rivals Stand CC on Saturday and only taking 4 points from visitors Irlam on Sunday.

Prestwich CC first team pulled off an astounding hat-trick of successes in the space of four days. In all three games, the opponents were uprooted for less than 100 runs after the Heys bowlers hit a green patch, in the literary sense of the word!
