Enid Ward passed away over the weekend following a long illness. Enid was a hard working member of our club and will be sadly missed. During both her sons cricket development at Prestwich she was continually seen on the boundary edge, with Norman and Judith, supporting both the lads and the various youth and senior teams that they graced. Over the years Enid has probably fed most of our club as she was an active member of our tea rota. I do however note the ward family being very active in the eating process as well!!! A personal memory for me was whenever I approached Enid she immediately retorted 'I suppose you want me to do Teas?' Before her illness I can remember Enid coming to watch, with great pride, Tom and Victoria in the junior teams and of course she will have noted Victoria's performance with interest having skippered PCC to victory against Unsworth Ladies at Unsworth many many years ago! She was the life and soul of any party at the club and would have a go at anything. Enid Ward was a giver to PCTBC and will be greatly missed by all of us who knew her. Brian Lorenzini |

With great sadness we have to announce the death of Margaret Slater.
On behalf of the whole club I want to express our sorrow and offer our condolences to Tony and the girls and all her family. Margaret was a very motivated and active working executive committee member of our club. Her main areas of personal contribution were via the Social Committee, the management of membership lists and Ladies Team Tennis. My personal memories would include attending many social events organised by Margaret which always had her personal touch of real quality adding to the presentation and enjoyment of the event. Margaret supported PCTBC as a whole. Our priorities, as club members, are to ensure that all her family are supported through this very difficult period and I know we will not fail them. |

Sadly I have to report the death of Arthur Codd former Chairman of PCC at the ripe old age of 92.
Arthur (top right on end) was my first Chairman at PCC (and groundsman..who does that remind you of? ) and he gave me and several others the inspiration and the will to put back what we had taken out. All Arthur ever did was put in and support the section through many difficult phases. A lovely man with a terrific sense of humour. Amongst my personal memories are the Sunday Morning work parties 0900hrs whilst 1200hrs with a 30 min break at his house overlooking the ground for tea and coffee and a flea in the ear from the wonderful Mary (quite a character). When our labours had finished we were treated to a free drink on the Chairman in the bar (never to be repeated!!). Other regular memories include what was thought to be his favourite phrase.... You Stupid Boy Cope...something Peter savours to this day! Pete Taylor (AJ's brother) was his favourite and I can still hear them both laughing their heads off to this day. Great times and many many happy memories! A brilliant guy and a true Prestwich CTBC stalwart. |
