Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club is delighted to have secured a grant from Awards For All towards the provision of disabled access to its tennis courts and associated facilities. The maximum award of £10,000 was announced in the latest round of funding, publicised earlier this month.
The award will be used to provide safe, smooth and level disabled access to three of the tennis courts, making them accessible to wheelchair users for the first time. A disabled toilet will also be provided. These improved facilities will subsequently allow use of the Club by local primary and secondary schools for coaching during the summer. Club Chairman, Brian Lorenzini, said, "Being able to accommodate wheelchair users has been one of our long-term aims and I am delighted that this has been achieved. This grant also enables us to open up use of the tennis courts to our linked primary and secondary schools during the working day, when the clubhouse is closed. These schools currently have no access to the tennis courts so the developments will greatly benefit children in the community." PCTBC is involved in ongoing discussions with a potential commercial sponsor to secure the project costs not covered by this grant in order to complete the development. Further information on PCTBC and membership is available online (www.pctbc.com) or by telephone 0161 773 2524 (evenings and weekends). Should anyone wish to support PCTBC in its fundraising, please contact Club Chairman Brian Lorenzini on 07850 947 534.
