Chairman Peter Lorenzini can't hide his excitement as new manager Peter Lorenzini signs his new contract.
Prestwich CC Football Club have moved quickly to replace manager Gary O'Brien after his recent shock resignation after the final game of the season. In a packed boardroom at Soho Square, Peter Lorenzini was unveiled by club chairman Peter Lorenzini to the waiting world's media.
"The club is delighted that in Lorenzini we have an experienced man who can come in at a difficult time," said the chairman.
Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is a friend of Lorenzini's and backed him to make the step up to the manager's position.
"I think he's ready for the job," said Eriksson. "It's a big job of course and whether he will do it better than O'Brien I don't know, but I will call him later and wish him good luck.
"He's very a good man," he added. "He knows his football and has a lot of experience. He did a good job with Kiav and there's no reason he won't succeed on the big stage."
In contrast former PCCFC player Andy Bradley believes the appointment will only be a short-term option.
"It's an absolute certainty to be a short-term measure because they can't get the man they want," he told BBC 5Live.
"And the man I'm sure they wanted was former assistant manager Steve Clarke, but he ruled himself out of the running as soon as news of O'Brien's resignation came to light."
Lorenzini is a close friend of PCCFC Chairman Peter Lorenzini and his summer arrival at the club came after opposition from the committee.
The committee told the chairman not to interfere with team affairs but Lorenzini's position was strengthened with a seat on the board.
Leicester City chairman Milan Mandaric, who worked with Loreznini at Kiav where he was a technical director, said he faces a huge task at PCCFC.
"I don't think there are too many people who can step into OB's shoes, but if people chose him, he deserves a chance to see what he can demonstrate," Mandaric told BBC 5Live.
